Final Reflection

06-12-13

Since the beginning of the year, I've been working hard in PE, and I think that I've improved significantly. I've become more comfortable with the class and compared to my previous years in PE, I've been much more involved and motivated. In the beginning of the year, I was very hesitant to whether I should participate or not. However, as the school year went by, I got to know my peer better and became much more comfortable. Since then, I've been participating in almost all of the activities that we do. Even if I don't like what we're doing, I always give it a shot and try my best. Furthermore, I've also reached the goals that I had set for this year and I'm starting to see PE in a different (and positive) perspective.

Throughout the whole year, I've never forgotten my PE strip, and I'm always ready to take part in the activities. As far as I know, I've only missed class twice or three times- but I was excused every time. I always put in my best effort, but there are certain days when I'm feeling lazy and I don't want to try. However, my friends always encourage me and whenever I see them trying their best, it makes me want to join in as well! I always work hard during fitness, in fact, I've improved a lot since the beginning of the year. At that time, I didn't think it'd be possible for me to run without stopping on the community or 25 minute run. However, I realized that by trying, it is possible. I went from taking almost 30 minutes on the community run to only 23 minutes. Furthermore, I only ran about 5 1/2 laps at the beginning of the year for the 25 minute run, but on our last 25 minute run, I ended up running 7 laps. Also, my beep test results, as shown in my last post, have changed- maybe not by a whole lot, but it's still some improvement. I'm glad to know that I can do anything if I try and that all it takes is that extra ounce of effort. Even if it means being sweaty, or sore the next day, it's always rewarding to know that you were able to achieve your goals. And I'm happy that I reached my goal of getting past the whole "I'm tired" excuses.

This year has changed me a lot. The years prior to this one, I was always lazy and I hated PE. But now, I actually enjoy it, and I really like fitness. I've started to take responsibility for my own fitness and I've started to eat healthier. Moreover, since the beginning of the year, I've started to work out in my own spare time. I go for runs after school sometimes, or in the morning on weekends. Years ago, I would have hated it, but now, I find it relaxing and fun to go for runs. Also, I've started to participate more, and not only by playing the games we do, but also by encouraging others. I used to always stand around and talk to my friends whenever I had PE, but this year has caused me to change that. I've started to partake in the activities more, and I've become more open minded. I've realized that it doesn't matter whether you're good at a game or not, because there's always going to be people better than you, so why not just try & have fun? After all, PE is benefiting you, not anyone else. Likewise, my eating habits have changed as well. I used to eat a lot of fast food. In fact, last summer, when I was in Korea, I ate Burger King at least once a day for two months. However, I've cut out fast food, along with other junk such as candy, chips and soda. Whenever I crave something sweet, I always rely on fruits and yogurt to satisfy my cravings. Also, I've been incorporating more colour onto my plate and I've cut out refine carbohydrates as well. On top of that, I've been drinking water more frequently. I used to only drink about 2 glasses of water, but now, I drink about 5 cups a day.

In conclusion, I've learnt a lot of things about myself this year. And despite the fact that I've reached my goals this year, I still have several things I want to improve on for next year. Firstly, I'd love to be able to get past 7 laps on the 25 minute run. To do this, I'm going to continue to go for runs during the summer. Also, I hope that I can become more confident in PE, as well as stay healthy and motivated. I think that this year has been a very successful year for me, and I can't help but feel sad that this year is coming to an end in a week. I hope to be even more successful next year, and continue to improve!

I think that I would deserve an A for PE this year.

Hill Run

06-05-13

For fitness on Tuesday, we went to City Hall to do the hill run. The hill run is probably one of my least favourite fitness activities, because I find it boring. However, the weather was great so I didn't really mind. This time we did it differently. Instead of running to the first, second and third row of cones 8 times and taking breaks in between every time we finished a set of 8, we had to go to the first row, second then third and we would get to rest. I found it much easier to do the hill run because we got frequent breaks. Also, I didn't skip or rest for any of them, so I ended up doing the full thing. At the end, I was sweating a lot, but my legs weren't as weak as I thought they would be. In fact, I felt like I could keep going for a bit longer. When we were counting our heartbeats, I counted around 86 (?) beats (I remember counting past 80 or 90, but I don't remember the exact number). Overall, the hill run was alright & I was pretty tired afterwards.
